Feb 20, 2007: Carnaval in Vilcabamba, Ecuador

Recycled water balloon chain contest

The children in Vilcabamba create colorful chains by picking up the popped water balloon plastic from the streets and weaving them together. The Association created a special contest this year to promote this activity of re-using the plastic waste. Prizes were awarded to the children who constructed the longest water balloon chain on the last day of Carnaval. The prizes consisted of paints, crayons, colored pencils and drawing books.
[Cost: $8]

    Hi Christina,

Hey…..you´re in my neighboorhood….not really, but you´re close by. That´s awesome to see what you´re doing here to educate children. My university students show no concern about the environment…they think global warming is a lost cause.

How long will you be down here for? If ever you´re in Quito, give me a call. here´s my cell number - 096365928 . I´ll be here until end of May.

    I admire what you´re doing!
